Nothing showcases the impact a painted effect can have quite like a before and after shot:

This ceiling was for a show-house here in Orlando. Unfortunately, I never was able to get a finished photo. The crown molding within the painted recessed tray was eventually painted gold like the lower crown, and a billiard lighting fixture was hung from the center.
